Berraca Soul.

Embodied Leadership for Migrant Women

HERE WE REBUILD.

Reinvention Through the Migrant Body.

Embodied leadership for migrant women rebuilding identity, emotional resilience and direction after years of survival abroad.

Berraca Soul is a culturally informed wellbeing and leadership initiative for migrant women, born from lived migrant experience, designed for women who already survived and now want to come back to themselves.

Born in Hobart, Tasmania. Built for migrant women everywhere.

THE INVISIBLE CRISIS OF MIGRANT WOMEN

You are not broken.

You are exhausted from adapting for too long.

In Australia, 32% of the population was born overseas — over 8.8 million people, approximately half women. The national report Activate Her Skills confirmed that only 41% of migrant women work in roles aligned with their education and experience.

This is not only a workforce problem.

It is an identity crisis. An emotional crisis. A crisis of direction.

Many highly skilled migrant women look "fine" from the outside.

They work.Adapt. Survive. Build lives abroad. But internally many live with:

  • Emotional exhaustion that rest doesn't fix

  • Professional grief — the cost of years of underutilisation

  • Loss of identity between who they were and who they are becoming

  • Disconnection from their own direction, desire and power

  • A deep feeling of "I have everything, but I don't feel alive"

This is the invisible crisis Berraca Soul was built for.

Not for women in acute vulnerability — there are extraordinary services for that.

Berraca Soul is for the woman who already passed that stage. She survived. She stabilised. And now she is ready to rebuild — from the inside out.

Migration changes identity

After migration, many women no longer feel fully connected to who they were in their home country — but they also don't feel completely rooted in the new version of themselves.

Berraca Soul calls this: suspended identity.

This space supports women through emotional integration and identity reconstruction after migration.

Migration alters the nervous system

Women cannot make aligned decisions while living in survival mode.

Migration affects emotional safety, stress regulation, body awareness, nervous system wellbeing and emotional resilience.

A woman cannot reinvent her life while her body is still waiting for the next crisis.

Berraca Soul works through embodiment, nervous system support, breathwork, movement and trauma-informed practices — because reinvention begins in the body, not the mind.

Migration forces women to lead their lives differently

Migrating is a leadership decision. Every migrant woman has developed extraordinary capacities — resilience, adaptability, courage, decision-making under uncertainty, cultural intelligence — that the world rarely names as leadership.

Berraca Soul redefines leadership not as corporate status — but as the ability to consciously choose direction under uncertainty.

Migrant women are leaders. They just haven't been named that way.

WHAT MAKES BERRACA SOUL DIFFERENT?

Australia has a strong ecosystem of crisis services for migrant women. Organisations like STARTTS, InTouch and IWSS do extraordinary work supporting women in acute vulnerability.

But there is a massive, unaddressed population of highly skilled migrant women who already passed that stage.

They have their visa. Their job. Their stability. They survived. And now they are stuck — not in crisis, but in a deep invisible disconnection from identity, direction and purpose.

No existing service is designed for her. That is Berraca Soul's space.

Berraca Soul

Berraca Soul is not yoga.

Not coaching.

Not therapy.

Not career strategy.

It is the intersection of all three — built from inside migrant lived experience, with a documented somatic method. That combination does not exist anywhere else.

THREE TERRITORIES

1.
The Migrant body

Migration impacts the nervous system, emotional safety and the body.

This territory explores nervous system wellbeing, embodiment, emotional regulation, grounding, movement, breathwork and emotional resilience.

Reinvention does not begin in the mind. It begins in the body.

"A woman cannot reinvent her life while her body remains in survival mode."

2.
Identity & Reinvention

After years abroad, many women no longer feel fully connected to who they used to be.

This territory explores identity loss, professional grief, emotional exhaustion, belonging, rebuilding confidence and finding direction again.

Migration changes more than geography. It changes the relationship women have with themselves.

3.
Female Migrant Leadership

Migration is leadership formation — even when no one names it that way.

This territory explores migrant leadership, emotional agency, self-leadership, visibility, resilience and identity reconstruction as a leadership act.

Migrant women are leaders. They develop capacities that the world rarely recognises — but Berraca Soul does.

What does “Berraca” mean?

In Colombia culture, a “Berraca” is a women who is:

  • Brave

  • Resilient

  • Emotionally strong

  • Intuitive

  • Determined

  • Capable of rebuilding herself again anf again.

Berraca Soul transforms that cultural identity into a modern framework for reinvention, emotional resilience and female migrant leadership.

Muchos notas adhesivas con mensajes de inspiración, amor y apoyo en un tablón de madera, con palabras como 'Love', 'Support the arts', 'Live my best life', 'Create beauty', 'Make people feel good'.

The method combines embodiment, nervous system support, storytelling, reflective education, trauma-informed practices, identity reconstruction and community.

BODY →STORY → DECISION → NEW IDENTITY

THE BERRACA METHOD

Regulate → Rebuild → Reinvent

The Berraca Method guides women through five stages:

  1. Inhabit the body — nervous system regulation and emotional safety

  2. Understand your story — the emotional and psychological impact of migration

  3. Choose yourself — recovering agency, boundaries and personal power

  4. Lead your life — migrant leadership as an internal capacity

  5. Embody your new story — integration, direction and new identity

THE WOMAN BEHIND BERRACA SOUL

A migrant woman, storyteller, yoga teacher and founder of Berraca Soul.

I arrived in Australia in 2017. In 2022, at 40, I moved to Tasmania — jobless, without a support network, sharing a room with 10 other women in a hostel. I had a university degree, two master's degrees and over 15 years of professional experience as a journalist, university professor and communications director.

None of that mattered at first.

Like so many highly skilled migrant women, I started from scratch — cleaning houses, handing out flyers, working in retail, caring for the elderly.

But my story with migration began much earlier. In 2011, while living in Barcelona, I had a profound mental breakdown. What followed was almost 15 years of obsessive searching — to understand what was happening in my body and mind, and how to heal in a way that went beyond medication.

I discovered yoga. I discovered that trauma lives in the body. I discovered that reinvention doesn't happen first in the mind — it happens first in the body.

And I decided that this understanding, built from real pain, had to serve other women.

In 2022, Berraca Soul was born in Tasmania. Not from comfort or privilege — from a hostel, with a few dollars in my account and the certainty that only I could decide if this was a failure or an opportunity.

Hi, I´m Gina.

REAL VOICES

"Facing a deep personal crisis, Gina taught me to start from the basics — connecting with my body, listening to it and taking care of it. I still follow the self-care routine she helped me build, and it allows me to live, enjoy and face whatever each day brings."

"With Gina I uncovered and made visible things I thought I had already moved past — but they were actually holding me back from living fully."

"Gina is a woman who inspires through her story. By showing up exactly as she is and sharing the way she faces life, she motivates you to stop doubting yourself and embrace change — always with deep empathy."
